SECASA provides counselling and advocacy for individuals who have been impacted by Sexual Assault and Family Violence.
The predecessor of SECASA was established in 1977 at the Queen Victoria Hospital, and was the first sexual assault service to be funded in Victoria. Over time, SECASA has enhanced its service to provide an intersectional approach to support all members of the community who are affected by sexual assault and family violence. This includes support for men, children, people who identify as LGBTIQ+, culturally and linguistically diverse communities and survivors of institutional abuse.
SECASA became a service of Monash Health in the mid 1990’s and continues to maintain the highest standards of practise and trauma informed care. This has been achieved by working closely with other health providers through the Monash Health network and various community services.
Creating SECASA’s new logo was a journey filled with thought, care and heart.
At the centre of the design is the dandelion, a symbol that beautifully reflects who we are and what we stand for.
The dandelion represents healing and resilience. It speaks to emotional and spiritual wisdom, while its connection to the sun reflects warmth, strength and renewal.
Despite life’s challenges, the dandelion continues to grow and flourish. It also carries with it a sense of hope, dreams and a vision for brighter days ahead.
